Half of Pennington left to go!

Scott Fort’s one-man fund-raising drive for the families of New City firefighters who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks continues to snowball.
"I’m up to $10,000," said Mr. Fort Tuesday. The money is going to the Leary Firefighters Foundation Fund for New York City’s Bravest.
Only one week ago, Mr. Fort, who is raising the money by covering mile-square Pennington door-to-door and collecting donations in a fireman’s boot at the Magic Moon Restaurant he owns and operates with his wife, Andria, had collected $6,600.
"I’ve covered about half the town so far," he said, adding that, of late, donations have been coming in more quickly at the Magic Moon on North Main Street. "People have been very generous," he said. "They’ll stop at the restaurant and put something in the boot, even if they don’t have time to stay for a meal."
Mr. Fort, who lives with his wife and son, Ryan, on South Main Street, brings along the boot, loaned to him by a friend who is a professional firefighter in Trenton, to collect donations during his door-to-door campaign.
He decided to cover all of Pennington after raising $200 on his own block, in about an hour and a half, after learning of the Leary fund.
