Letter writers looked other way during Matacera regime

After reading the five letters signed by five registered Democrats in last week’s paper, as a former Democrat, I felt compelled to comment on a few ludicrous statements.

Did Mary Ann Barrett-Jabs think Maureen Little should have cast a "yes" vote when she didn’t have the proper information?

I know the two new council members, Bruce Chandlee and Adam Weiss, voted "yes." Did they have the proper information to make such a decision, or did they vote the way the previous Democratic rubber-stamp council did, or did they not read their packets?

I don’t remember Jabs signing a letter when Mack Womack was the only council member that voted "no" when Peggy Scarillo was elected council president.

Since Jabs and Phyllis Morris are both residents of the same senior housing complex on Hermann Road and don’t pay property taxes, they obviously weren’t impressed when property taxes went down three years in a row under the Republican council.

I have been a resident of North Brunswick for 30 years and my property taxes went up every year under the previous Democratic mayor, Paul Matacera, and his rubber-stamp council.

Why didn’t the five Democratic letter signers complain when the Matacera Dems hired Anthony Billings as a tax assessor, even though the state said he wasn’t qualified and paid him out of taxpayer monies ($400,000) for a job he failed to do?

Why no letters when the Republicans uncovered $1 million in unpaid bills and more than $500,000 owed for building inspectors as a result of financial mismanagement by the Matacera Democrats?

Where were the letter signers when the taxpayers lost thousands of dollars in interest (against state mandate) in money deposited in Brunswick Bank & Trust?

Last but not least, why didn’t they write letters when [questionable tactics were] used to endorse two Democratic council candidates, Diane Pincus and George Shamy (both attorneys), in 1996? Morris Enyeart claimed it was "an honest mistake" (so much for honesty).

Since no crimes were committed by the Republican administration, Little should continue to hold her head high and ignore the constant complainers and keep working for all the residents of North Brunswick as she has been since she was elected.
