School bond should pass

We strongly urge North Brunswick voters to pass the high school expansion bond on Tuesday.

The district has made quite a compelling case for the $29 million plan.

In the first place, the expansion is needed to accommodate the 450-500 new students expected to attend classes in the facility.

Second, the state is willing to kick in almost $8 million to help with the construction.

And last, it has been several years since the district has approached voters for building funds.

Schools superintendent Dr. Robert Rimmer has accomplished many good things for the district since taking the position last summer. Rimmer believes the town should strike while the iron is hot, and we agree.

The state may not be as much help in the near future with a projected budget shortfall of between $2 billion-$4 billion.

Passing this plan will help the district accommodate students, and enhance an education program which is working toward excellence.

We urge all registered voters to go to the polls on Tuesday.
