BOONE, N.C. Joseph Czarnecki III died Friday, Feb. 1, at his residence. He was 53.
Born in Manville, he later moved to Boone, N.C.
He served in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Czarnecki was a graduate of the University of North Carolina and received his masters of fine arts from Appalachian State University.
He was a teacher of film, arts, history and photography at Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute and was a sculptor.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Czarnecki; his former wife, Dayla Haynes of Chapel Hill, N.C.; and one sister, Elizabeth Arnold of Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Memorial services were conducted Feb. 7 at the Austin and Barnes Funeral Home in Boone, officiated by Rev. James Dannals.
