Hillsborough studentswin essay contest

   SOMERVILLE — Hillsborough students Katie Brock and Tim Swzarc won first and third places, respectively, in the county’s Fair Housing Month poster and essay contest.
   The essay contest was open to students between the ages of 13 and 17, asking students to write on the theme "My Community in America" for the essay contest. Eydis Lima of Bedminster won second-place in the contest.
   Katie and Tim join four other winners of the contest, sponsored by the Somerset County Board of Freeholders, in cooperation with the Somerset County Coalition on Affordable Housing, and were recognized at the March 19 freeholders’ meeting.
   In the poster contest, which was open to students between the ages of 8 and 12, the first-place winner is Dora Rodas of Bedminster, the second-place winner is Kimberly Kornbluth of Bridgewater and the third-place winner is Yolexis Lima of Bedminster. The theme for the poster contest was "My Home in America."
   The winners received U.S. savings bonds donated by UnitedTrust Bank and Somerset Savings Bank. The first-place winner in each category received a $200 bond, the second-place winner received a $100 bond and the third-place winner received a $50 bond.
   The posters will be on display at the Somerset County Library-Bridgewater Branch, located at North Bridge Street and Vogt Drive in Bridgewater, during the month of April.
