Michael DeMarco

   Michael DeMarco died Tuesday, May 21, at Centra-State Medical Center, Freehold.
   Born in Cliffwood Beach, he lived in Edison for 30 years before moving to Monroe 5 years ago.
   Mr. DeMarco dedicated his life to full-time military service, He served in the New Jersey National Guard from 1939 until his retirement in 1980, retiring with the rank of sergeant major. He served in the Army during WWII, landing in Normandy with the 112th Field Artillery. He participated in five major battles, including the Battle of the Bulge, and received the WWII Campaign Medal earning a total of five battle stars. Mr. DeMarco was also awarded the Legion of Merit. He was a member of the St. James Knights of Columbus Council 6336 in Jamesburg, the American Legion Post 45 of Monroe Township, VFW Post 262 of Perth Amboy, the Italian Cultural Association of Greenbriar in Monroe, and the 112th Field Artillery Association. He was a communicant of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church.
   He is survived by his wife, Dolly DeMarco; a son, Dennis of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Linda Amabile of Metuchen and 7 grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be conducted today (Friday) at 10:30 a.m. from M. David De Marco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe Township, followed by an 11:30 a.m. Funeral Mass at Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church. Burial will take place at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
