Though the sky darkened and the threat of rain loomed, Seashore held its North Shore Club swim meet against Monmouth Beach Bathing Pavilion last weekend, only to have the meet halted halfway through due to lightning.

Arry Griffin and Maggie Muir started things off for Seashore by winning the boys’ and girls’ 6/U freestyle.

Other gold medalists for the home team were, for the boys, Jeff Kless (11/12 100-meter individual medley); Tim Chambrovich (13/17 100-meter individual medley); Sean Chambrovich, Andrew DiPetro, Hugh Chambrovich and Tim Chambrovich (13/17 100-meter medley relay); Brenden Stengel (8-year-olds’ 25-meter freestyle) and Shane MacCory (9/10 25-meter freestyle). Preventing the host team from sweeping all 27 first-place spots, Monmouth Beach went on to record 11 winning times.

Earning first-place team points for the Dolphins were: for the boys, Patrick Chevalier (10U backstroke and butterfly); Daniel Keating (10U breaststroke); Elliot Anderson, Max Spahn, Bill George and Brian Schnurr (11/12 100-meter medley relay); George (11/12 25-meter butterfly) and Alex Riley (11/12 25-meter backstroke); Daniel Keating, Rocco Farrell, Patrick Chevalier and P.J. Ermides (boys’ 9/10 100-meter medley relay); and Andrew Mahon (boys’ 7-year-old 25-meter freestyle). For the girls — Jane Farrell (11/12 backstroke); Emily Coyle (11/12 25-meter backstroke); and Farrell (girls’ 8-year-old 25-meter freestyle).

While Seashore edged its guests 16-11 for top honors, Monmouth Beach was able to stay close with 20 second-place finishes.

Taking home the silver for the Monmouth Beach Dolphins were Kevin Stickle (6/U freestyle); Daniel Keating (10/U backstroke); Jim Denker (13/17 100-meter individual medley); Jim Denker, Trevor Mahoney-Kendia, Scott Mahoney and Justin Anderson (13/17 100-meter medley relay); J.R. Shields (7-year-olds 25-meter freestyle); Killian Fister (8-year-olds 25-meter freestyle); Rocco Farrell (9/10-year-olds 25-meter freestyle); Elliot Anderson (11/12 25-meter backstroke); Alec Walczak (11/12 25-meter butterfly); Allison Villane (girls’ 6/U freestyle); Nicole Michaels (girls’ 10/U butterfly); Rachel Chavez (girls’ 10/U breaststroke); Jenna Seitz (girls’ 11/12 100-meter individual medley); Farrell, Carly Villane, Nicole Michaels and Amanda Sachs (girls’ 9/10 100-meter medley relay); Caitlyn Yerves, Nicole Keating, Jenna Seitz and Coyle (girls’ 11/12 100-meter medley relay); Cassie Yerves, Liz Widdis, Nicole Chevalier and Kristen Mahon (girls’ 13/17 100-meter medley relay); Christina Kalnowski (girls’ 7-year-olds 25-meter freestyle); Amanda Sachs (girls’ 8-year-olds 25-meter freestyle); and Michaels (girls’ 9/10-year-olds 25-meter freestyle).

Earning second for the host team were DeMott (girls’ 10/U backstroke); Kaitie English (girls’ 13/17 100-meter individual medley); Fischel (girls’ 11/12 25-meter backstroke); Keith White (boys’ 10/U butterfly); William Villa (boys’ 10/U breaststroke); Kyle Bowie (boys’ 11/12 100-meter individual medley); Richie DeMaree, Shane MacCary, White and Aaron Rodro (boys’ 9/10 100-meter medley relay); and Jeff Kless, Kyle Bowie, Jason Lefker and Shaun Smith (boys’ 11/12 100-meter medley relay).

The remainder of the meet will be made up on the leagues’ first available rain date.
