For many, tonight’s All-Shore Football Classic will be their final scholastic football game. Next up will be their collegiate careers. For some, the Classic will be the last football game of their careers.

Whether they are looking ahead to college or behind, at the final time they will ever play in pads, tonight’s All-Shore Classic has every ingredient to make it memorable. It gives some of the Shore Conference football stars one last opportunity to play with their high school teammates, or with opponents they have been banging heads against for four years. In addition, the Monmouth vs. Ocean County format guarantees a hard-fought game because county pride is on the line.

This year’s 25th edition of the All-Shore Football Classic will be held at Toms River High School North, Old Freehold Road. Pregame ceremonies will begin at 6:30 p.m. with kick-off slated for around 7 p.m.

The Greater Media area will be well represented Friday night as it dominates the Monmouth County team. The players who made the headlines last year, and in previous years, will make the squad a highly competitive one.

From the Freehold area, there are Josh James, Bret Jones and Anthony Hubbert of Freehold Borough, and Freehold Township’s Mike Castellano and Mike Mirabelli. Howell will be represented by Mike Bottiglieri and Mike Vadas. Mike Sarapochillo of Colts Neck, and Marlboro’s Peder Von Harten round out the Freehold District members.

From Middletown, South teammates Brendan Kennedy, Bryan Kohlbecker, Tom Mauro, Michael McClelland, Christian Thomas and Tim Traynor suit up as teammates for the last time, while North is served by Jeremy Fixx.

From the Bayshore, Uzoma Orji and Kevin Davis of Matawan lead the way. Also playing for the Monmouth squad are Jamie Gutridge of Keyport and Raritan’s Jesse Orbach.

From Holmdel there are Anthony Addonizio and Danny Principe of Holmdel High, plus Shane Kochon and Joe Tenpenny from St. John Vianney.

From Red Bank there are Jairus Kendel, Matt Nastasi and Andrew Waters of Red Bank Catholic. Rumson-Fair Haven has R.J. Gaynor representing the Bulldogs.

Shore Regional put Dan Carhart and Justin Lugones on the squad. Long Branch’s Derrell Sapp, Monmouth Regional’s Dan Wendel and Ocean Township’s Robert McManigal and Dana Webster round out the area’s representatives on the 2002 Monmouth team.

The Ocean County squad that the Monmouth stars are facing will be led by a bevy of Jackson High School standouts. Nick Anzalone, Nick Castellano, Ryan Davis, Arthur Martin, Jim Migliore, Ryan Niemiec, Jason Pirigyi, Joe Serratelli, Kevin Vaughn and Rich Wilton get to wreak havoc one final time as teammates and the Ocean all-stars will be counting on the success they’ve enjoyed carrying over to the rest of the team.

Jackson was the No. 1 team in the state in 2001, capturing the South Jersey Group IV championship for a second straight year and finishing atop all of the post-season polls. The Jags also completed a second straight perfect 11-0 season.
