Local cyclists compete at Woods Hollow Classic

The Monmouth County Park System held the Woods Hollow Classic Mountain Bike Race on Aug. 3 at Tatum Park in Middletown. Cyclists from throughout Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties competed in either the beginner race (7.5 miles) or the sport race (11.25 miles), through the open fields and woodlands of Tatum Park.

Among the top finishers in the Men’s Beginner Class were: Tony DeOrio, 35, Eatontown (second, 38:43); Mikolaj Bykowski, 19, Eatontown (fourth, 41:01); KiJung Kim, 28, Ocean (fifth, 41:09); Mark Alfone, 35, Eatontown (19th, 43:32); Rich Patterson, 27, Eatontown (45:01); Chris Caggiano, 31, Tinton Falls (46:00); Joe Coppola, 41, Little Silver (47:58); Greg Schussler, 32, West Long Branch (48:01); Jay Caroli, 40, Red Bank (50:11); Marty Brenner, 33, Long Branch (51:08); William Somers, 29, Red Bank (53:05); and Marcus Depontes, 38, Holmdel (1:29:14).

Among the top finishers in the women’s beginner class were: Jan Galanti, 39, Red Bank (seventh, 55:58); and Eileen Murphy, 58, Red Bank (10th, 57:29).
