The Jersey Chapter of the American Red Cross is pleased to host the Fifth Annual JCP&L Co.-Commerce Bank Rock ’n Ride Bike Tour on Sept. 8. Riders can cruise a 10-mile course (beginning at 9:30 a.m.) or peddle the 40-mile track (beginning at 9 a.m.) stretching the length of Long Beach Island. Prizes will be awarded to the bikers who collect the most pledges. The registration fee is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under. The first 75 riders to register, pay their registration fee and attend that day will receive a helmet. All proceeds will benefit the Red Cross in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The American Heart Association’s 11th annual American Heart Walk will be held at Thompson Park in the Lincroft section of Middletown Sept. 29. There will be a total of 13 walk sites throughout the state. Currently the American Heart Association is seeking volunteers to help organize and facilitate the walk. Volunteers are needed to help with walksite set-up and take-down, check-in/registration support, performers and entertainers, community health fair participants, photography volunteers, and volunteers to help distribute food beverages and other items. The Middletown Youth Athletic Association Little League, also known as Middletown Little League, is having its inaugural fall baseball and softball season. The N.J. Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is looking for walkers for CCFA’s 10th annual 5K Pace Setter Walk Sept. 15 on the Belmar Boardwalk. Walk registration starts at 9 a.m., and walk starts 10 a.m. Walk proceeds will go to CCFA’s research, education and support programs. The Matawan-Aberdeen Recreation Volleyball League coordinates two coed community leagues which play at the Matawan Ave Middle School in Cliffwood, Tuesday evenings (6-10 p.m.). Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Monmouth County (BBBS) will hold its 13th annual Golf Classic Sept. 26 at Spring Lake Golf Club. BBBS matches at-risk children with adult volunteers who act as friends, confidants and mentors. The cost for the event in $300 per individual golfer ($1,650 for a corporate foursome), and includes a full day of golf and club service. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. with golfer goodie bags. The Battle of Monmouth Revolution, an U13 girls travel soccer team, is looking for dedicated players born between Aug. 1, 1989 and July 31, 1990 to add to their fall roster. There is no residency requirement. The team practices at Route 537 and Wemrock Road.

GoodSports, Aberdeen, is offering Recreational Roller Hockey for ages 5-8 starting Sept. 6 and for ages 9-12 starting Sept. 7. Cost is $130 per player and includes jersey. The season is 10 games. Call (732) 290-0003 to register.
