WEST LONG BRANCH — Laurence M. Downes, chairman and CEO of New Jersey Resources, parent company of New Jersey Natural Gas Co., and the management team of New Jersey Natural Gas Company and affiliates were honored at the 2002 Distinguished Business Leaders’ Award Dinner held in historic Woodrow Wilson Hall at Monmouth University on Oct. 30.
"As New Jersey Natural Gas Company celebrates its 50th anniversary, it is fitting that we honor Mr. Downes and his management team for their years of achievement and dedication to customers, community and stakeholders," Rebecca Stafford, president of Monmouth Univer-sity, said.
"These individuals exemplify corporate leadership and have a long-standing commitment to achieving excellence," she added.
New Jersey Natural Gas is one of the fastest-growing local distribution companies in the United States and the principal subsidiary of New Jersey Resources, a Fortune 1000 company, which provides retail and wholesale energy services to customers in New Jersey and in states from the Gulf Coast to New England and Canada.
