Princeton Township plans to hold a dedication ceremony Sunday to commemorate the opening of the new Township Hall on Witherspoon Street.
The ceremony is planned to follow the township’s annual reorganization meeting, which is scheduled to begin at noon in the main meeting room of Township Hall.
Light refreshments will follow the ceremony. Members of the public are invited to attend.
The Township Hall opened for business in September. The development project, estimated to cost around $13 million, began in 1994 when the first design was approved. An amended design was approved in 1998, and construction commenced in 1999.
Completion of the project was delayed for about two years due to contractor problems and a mold infestation.
On the weekend of Friday, Sept. 13, municipal offices were moved from the Valley Road building into the new Township Hall across the street on Witherspoon Street. Around 100 staffers and their equipment were relocated without an interruption in services to the community.
On Sunday, Deputy Mayor William Enslin and Committeeman Bernard Miller will be sworn in to three-year terms on the committee. Also Sunday, the committee will elect a mayor for the new year.
Mayor Phyllis Marchand is expected to give her year-end state of the township address.
