Move from city to country changes more than address

I would like to comment on the Jan. 9 news article "Hunters Ruffle Feathers in Stone Tavern Estates" regarding complaints about a local hunting preserve.

I also live near this particular preserve, and I am not afraid to say I’m glad places like this still exist.

However, the real point of my comments: increasing numbers of families move out of congested urban areas to areas such as Upper Freehold and Millstone. Why?

Where do they think they are moving to? Isn’t it obvious that rural areas support farming and hunting? Shouldn’t the high number of hunting posters and the proximity of Assunpink Wildlife Management Area to Stone Tavern Estates give someone a clue that these age-old traditions still exist?

This letter is not intended to offend anyone. Culture shock certainly exists today, even in a state as small as New Jersey. I would be equally disconcerted by issues if I were to move to the city.

Move out of the urban areas, that’s great. This is a wonderful community with great schools and people; all are welcome. But please don’t try to make your new home just like your old one, where the only shooting you could hear was being done by a real criminal with an unlicensed weapon.
