Hospital slates career

workshop for students

Raritan Bay Medical Center will offer an intensive June 23-27 Healthcare Connection Career Workshop designed for students who are entering their senior year of high school and are interested in pursuing careers in the health care field. The program will take place at the medical center’s Old Bridge division, off Ferry Road, between routes 9 and 18, and at its Perth Amboy division, 530 New Brunswick Ave.

Six students will observe firsthand a variety of health care situations by working with physicians, nurses and staff in a wide range of departments including pathology, the emergency room, nursing units, the laboratory, surgical suites, the pharmacy and more.

Experts in each field will provide career information and resources. Students will engage in hands-on activities and observations designed to offer insight into a large number of health care careers. Licensed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) instructors will provide first-aid training and certification at the close of the session.

Acceptance into the Healthcare Connection program is limited. Transportation between the medical center’s Old Bridge and Perth Amboy divisions is the responsibility of each program participant.

For more information and an application packet, call Tara DiFlumeri at (732) 324-5098. Application deadline is April 15.
