The Twin County Stallions, an U14 boys soccer team from Brick, finished first in the Ocean Tournament of Champions in June by defeating Toms River, Colts Neck, Ocean Township and Berkeley. The members of the team are Boby Olkowit, Mike Heard, Ryan Soos, Dave Przybylowski, John Loiodice, Joey Olkowitz, Dave Caravella, Dan Rockefeller, Anthony Cunard, Mike Consoli, Dillon Wagner, Mark Simonovich, and Sean Berger. The team is coached by Mike Caravella and Bob Olkowitz.

The U9 girls’ Brick Shooting Stars traveling soccer team is looking for players. The girls play in the Monmouth-Ocean Soccer Association. All players must have been born on or after Aug. 1, 1993. Baseball Instruction for the young player — Marc Kaplan and Pat Saverino will be offering personalized baseball instruction to boys and girls, ages 8 to 18, this spring and summer. Marc Kaplan is the former Asian Scout for the Atlanta Braves, just returning from eight years in Korea. Prior to joining the Braves, Marc was head coach at Galldet University, New England College and Hillside High School. Pat Saverino is the current manager of the premier Brick Clippers Baseball Club. Pat was an outstanding high school and college player. He was a sought-after prospect by the Mets, Tigers and Orioles. Pat was also offered the head baseball coaching position at OCC. The Goodwill Ambassadors are currently accepting applications for high school teams, club teams and individual high school-age volleyball players, in the USA and Canada, to participate in the Goodwill Ambassadors Volleyball exchange to Europe in July 2004. Members of this team will represent their country and community in volleyball tournaments and local competitions in London, Paris, Geneva, Venice and Rome. The Central Jersey Predators, a Premier U11 travel baseball organization, is seeking one or two quality players to fill out the fall 2003 roster. Interested players must possess advanced baseball skills (advanced pitching skills a plus) and not turn 12 before Aug. 1, 2003. The American Red Cross will hold its Sixth Annual Rock n’ Ride Bike Tour on Sept. 7. Ocean County Freeholder James J. Mancini is the honorary chairman of the event. The tour will take place at Harvey Cedars, Sunset Park, on Long Beach Island. Cyclists are invited to ride either the 40-mile route or the 10-mile route. Those riding the 40-mile route will start at 9 a.m. and those riding the 10-mile route will start at 9:30 a.m. Bike helmets are required for all riders. The registration fee is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 12 and under. All proceeds will benefit the Red Cross Services in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
