Mrs. Lashley, 80, of Howell died Oct. 15 at home. Born in Howell, she was a lifelong resident of the Maxim section and a lifetime member of the Pierce Memorial Presbyterian Church in Farmingdale. For more than 30 years, she worked at the original Connie’s, a restaurant in Farmingdale. She then worked in Farmingdale as a dental assistant for her son-in-law, Dr. Byron Marriner. She was predeceased by her husband, William H. Lashley, in 2001, her parents, Ella Clayton and Walter Ostrander, and a brother, Warren Ostrander, in 1926. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, William H. (Jr.) and Barbara Lashley of Jackson; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dr. Byron Marriner of Manasquan; two brothers, Charles Ostrander of Jupiter, Fla., and George Ostrander of Howell; a sister and brother-in-law, Lavina and Franklin Ellis of Farmingdale; a grandson; and a great-grandson. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harvey Kelley officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen Cemetery, Farmingdale. Tammy L. Kennedy

Mrs. Kennedy, 39, of Lakewood died Oct. 17 at Leisure Chateau Care Center, Lakewood. Born in Lakewood, she was a certified nurse’s aide and worked in various nursing homes in the area. She is survived by three daughters, Valerie Castronova and Stephanie Suttors, both of Florida, and Kimberly Kennedy of Freehold; her mother, Janet Burroughs of Brick; and a sister, Jennifer Burroughs, also of Brick. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.

Josephine D’Angelo

Mrs. D’Angelo, 92, died Nov. 5 at Jackson Center, Jackson. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Toms River. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony, in 1988, a son, Robert, in 2002 and a brother, Andrew Scala. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Maria De Angelo of Freehold Township; three sisters, Rachael Petrillo and Antoinette Mule, both of Brooklyn, and Joan Jordan of Toms River; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, followed by entombment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.

Russell J. Tepper Sr.

Mr. Tepper, 79, of Barefoot Bay, Fla., formerly of Spotswood, died Oct. 24 at his son’s home in Howell. Surviving are his wife, Audrey Templeton Tepper; three sons, Russell Tepper of Flanders section of Mount Olive, William Tepper of Catskill, N.Y., and Steven Tepper of Howell; a daughter, Patricia Libonati of Jamesburg; and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Hugo, 62, of Howell died Oct. 16 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. Born and raised in East Rutherford, he had lived in Dumont and Elmwood Park before moving to Howell in 1967. A U.S. Army veteran, he was a project manager for P. Germinario, Paterson, for 40 years until his retirement in 2003. He was a former chief and life member of Howell’s Freewood Acres Fire Co., and for many years was also a coach in the North Howell Little League. He was predeceased by his father, Henry. Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Eleanora R. Hugo; his mother, Gladys Hugo of East Rutherford; five sons and daughters-in-law, Robert E. and Lisa Hugo Jr. of Little Egg Harbor, Dale Hugo and Lisa Ann Homack of Howell, David and JoAnn Hugo of Jackson, Brian and Tracy Hugo of Toms River, and Victor and Kathy Simon of Maryland; a daughter and her fiancé, Michele Hugo and John Barrett of Manchester; three brothers, Henry Hugo of Florida, Fredrick Hugo of Carlstadt and Kenneth Hugo of East Rutherford; four sisters, Lorraine Hugo, also of East Rutherford, Gladys Schostage of Mary­land, and Joanne Eckert and Janet Ruyman, both of Carlstadt; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Macaluso of Elmwood Park. A funeral service was held at the C.H.T. Clayton & Son Funeral Home, Adelphia section of Howell, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Vet­erans Cemetery, Arnytown. Phebe G. Black

Mrs. Black, 87, of Jackson died Oct. 27 at Bartley Health Care Center, Jackson. Born in Hamilton Township, she was a resident of Allentown for 58 years before moving to Jackson 18 months ago. She was a member of the Ellisdale United Methodist Church, Ellisdale, and the Hamilton Square Grange. She was predeceased by her twin, Priscilla Wilson; a sister, Dorothy Van Aller, and two brothers, John and David Gardner. Surviving are her husband of 63 years, William A. Black; four daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Herbert Gower of Cream Ridge, Margery and Larry Reuter of Allentown, Anita and Robert Clayton of Port Republic, and Kathleen and David Jones of Dunmore, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Ellisdale United Methodist Church, followed by interment at North Crosswicks Cemetery, Hamilton Township. John A. Makoski

Mr. Makoski, 78, of Spotswood, died Oct. 19 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was predeceased by a son, James. Surviving are his wife, Christina Anderson Makoski; two sons, John Edward Makoski of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph Makoski of Jackson; a daughter, Gail Reen of the Keasbey section of Woodbridge; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchil­dren. Services were under the direction of Cremation Services of Central New Jersey, East Brunswick.
