New Jersey Diagnostic Imaging, an outpatient radiology facility located in Brick, installed the GE Millennium MyoSIGHT, a compact dedicated nuclear cardiology imaging system, to help its physicians detect and diagnose cardiac disease, while enhancing patient comfort.

New Jersey Diagnostic Imaging uses nuclear medicine imaging to show how well blood is delivered to the heart muscle and how well the heart pumps blood to the rest of the body.

MyoSIGHT supports a wide range of cardiac imaging modes to deliver state-of-the-art image quality. This cardiac imaging system also features an integrated arm and head support for patient comfort, and easy patient access. Its open system design means faster, more comfortable imaging. Patients’ heads remain completely outside the imaging system, which significantly reduces claustrophobic apprehension.

Nuclear medicine has the ability to provide physiological and anatomic information for virtually every system of the body. It uses small amounts of radioactive "tracer," which localize in a particular organ of interest. The distribution of the tracer, or its flow through a particular organ, allows the physician to extract diagnostic information about how well the organ is working.

Most nuclear medicine procedures are painless and involve a simple injection in the arm to introduce the tracer. The tracer remains in a patient’s body from 10 minutes to 6 hours, depending upon the type being used for the procedure.

New Jersey Diagnostic Imaging has been serving the Brick area since 1988. Besides nuclear medicine, they offer high field and open MRI CT scanning, mammography, ultrasound, X-ray and bone densitometry.
