Gerald Goldsmith

   Gerald "Jerry" Goldsmith, 72, of Kendall Park, died Friday, Feb. 6, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick.
   Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Goldsmith resided in Perth Amboy before moving to Kendall Park 26 years ago. A graduate of Brooklyn Boys High School, Mr. Goldsmith retired in 2001 as a legal clerk for the N.J. Turnpike Authority, New Brunswick, after working there for 12 years. Previously he had been employed in various capacities, including manufacturing and purchasing, for the jewelry and apparel industries for more than 40 years. Mr. Goldsmith served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Congregation B’nai Tikvah, North Brunswick, and the Knights of Pythias, Goodfellows Lodge, Queens, N.Y.
   His parents, Gabriel and Frieda (Rifkin) Goldsmith, are deceased. He is survived by his wife, Bertha (Braha); three sons, Fred of Long Beach, Calif., Ira and his wife, Roz, of Freehold, and Andrew and his wife, Mary Alice, of Kingston; a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Betty Goldsmith of Dade County, Florida; and five grandchildren, Patrick, Sam, Brendan, Gabe and Sean Goldsmith.
   Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 8, at Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick, Rabbi David Eligberg officiated. Burial followed at Washington Cemetery, Deans.
