Mary Lou Palumbo

   HILLSBOROUGH — Mary Lou Palumbo died Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She was 71.
   Born in Paterson, she lived in Waldwick before moving to Hillsborough in 1969.
   Mrs. Palumbo was proprietor of Magic Hair Salon in Ridgewood, a salon her family owned for 17 years and continued working there after the sale and name changed to Hiros Salon, until her death.
   She also worked part time at the Foodtown Supermarkets, now Stop-n-Shop in Raritan and then Hillsborough.
   She was a communicant of Mary, Mother of God Church in Hillsborough.
   Her husband, August Palumbo, died in 1986; and a brother, Nicholas Ficca of Paterson, died in 2003.
   Survivors include a son, August J. of Hillsborough; five grandchildren; two sisters, Constance DeCarlo of Haledon and Jean Berry of Waldwick; and a brother, Frank Ficca of North Haledon.
   A funeral was held Feb. 20 from Cusick Funeral Home in Somerville, followed by a Mass in Mary, Mother of God Church in Hillsborough. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, Piscataway.
