EDISON — Seniors are now able to enjoy the perks of the Edison Senior Citizens Center a little longer each day.

"Edison has one of the largest senior populations in the state that is growing larger all the time. The demands of our seniors for use of the center are increasing as well," said Mayor George A. Spadoro.

The center at 2963 Woodbridge Ave., which formerly closed at 4:30 p.m., will now be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. until 10:30 p.m., according to a statement from the mayor’s office.

During the evenings the center will provide computer training, caregiver’s support, Grandparents raising Grandchildren support and AARP Defensive Driving classes.

Daytime activities will include programs and seminars including art classes, line dancing classes, ballroom dancing classes, bocce ball and computer training.

The center will be running day and overnight trips and provide transportation for all senior members.

"These extended hours show our commitment to building on the best senior citizens program in the State," Spadoro added.
