The following girls travel soccer tryouts will be held this month:

U8 (born 8/1/96 through 7/31/97) — Players will be educated on proper soccer techniques and introduced to the game in a fun environment throughout the year.

U9 (born 8/1/95 through 7/31/96) — Players will have proper techniques reinforced and continue to enjoy the game in a fun environment; 1v1 skills will be taught and utilized continuously at this level.

U10 (born 8/1/94 through 7/31/95) — Proper technique is still the main focus and will be used in small-sided game situations. Players will be taught the basics of the first and second attacker and defender in a fun environment.

U11 (born 8/1/93 through 7/31/94) — Proper technique is expected to be understood at this point and will continue to be reinforced during small-sided game situations. These game situations are designed to reinforce the basics of team attack and team defense, which are taught at this level. This will be a competitive environment. Fun and learning is still the main element of the system. It is expected that soccer is the player’s main hobby and parents make every effort to support their commitment. Camps, tournaments and clinics throughout the year should be expected.

The Old Bridge Flames U13 travel soccer team will be holding tryouts at Ticetown Field in Old Bridge on May 17 from 6-8 p.m. The team is trained by a former N.Y. Cosmo and is looking to add one or two talented players to help bring the team to a Premier level. The Flames are currently 15-0 in MOSA league play, outscoring their opponents 60-6. The team also finished first in two tournaments and second in one tournament in the current year. The Raritan Bay Cougars Pop Warner football team will hold its 2004 season registration for ages 5-14 on May 7 from 7-9 p.m.. and May 8 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Cougar Field House on Cheesequake Road in Madison Park in Old Bridge. There is a referral discount — receive $25 off your registration fee when you refer a friend who has not played for the Cougars before. One discount per family. Registration is for football and cheerleading — Flag, Mitey Mite, Junior Pee Wee, Pee Wee and Midget.

Participants must bring a copy of birth certificate, $50 registration fee (two or more children $75), recent wallet-sized photo, two copies of June report card, $100 work bond, original 2004 physical, signed and stamped by doctor.

Old Bridge Soccer League 2004 Fall Recreational Soccer Season begins on Sept. 11. It is a 10-week season and most games are played on Saturdays. Full uniform supplied. Township residency is not required. Open to all children (boys and girls) born on or before July 31, 2000; no exceptions. Registration will be held at the fields on Ticetown Road, Saturday, May 15, and June 5, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesday, June 22 and June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. Checks only. No cash will be accepted. Birth certificate/proof of age required for all players.
