Adopt-a-Horse Day Aug. 8 in Upper Freehold

The Standardbred Retirement Foundation will conduct an Adopt-a-Horse Day at the Horse Park of New Jersey, Upper Freehold, on Sunday, Aug. 8, during the Festival of Horses. The SRF will have several of its 100 horses available for adoption at the event, and staff members will be on hand to answer any questions regarding adoptions.

Anyone interested in adopting a horse and taking it home on that day should complete an application and receive approval prior to Aug 8. Applications are available at www.adoptahorse.org.

Founded in 1989, the SRF has placed more than 1,400 standardbreds in new homes following their careers on the racetrack. These horses are being used in all disciplines of riding and driving, such as English and Western pleasure, dressage, hunter pace, barrel racing, trail riding, gymkhana, hunter, 4-H events, handicap riding programs and more.

The Festival of Horses showcases the diverse abilities of all breeds of horses. SRF will conduct demonstrations on the versatility of the standardbred horse during the festival.
