classroom at Allaire Park
Allaire Village Inc. will present "School Days at the 1830s Howell Works," July 18 from 1-4 p.m. Children ages 6-12 and adults will get a taste of what it was like to attend school (even if only for 30 minutes at a time) in 1836 at the Historic Village Carriage House in the Historic Village at Allaire State Park, Route 524, Wall Township.
Three separate 45-minute sessions will be conducted at the event. A maximum of 30 children may participate in each half-hour session by donning a cap or neckerchief of the period. There will be room for parents to observe. Volunteers in period dress will instruct the class. Participants will witness methods used to teach children in class in addition to humiliating punishments that were used for disruptive behavior during that period. ‘Wild, wet ’n’ Wacky’
games keep kids cool
The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation will conduct "Wild, Wet ’n’ Wacky," July 21 from 2-3 p.m. at the Beach Complex, Ocean County Park, Lakewood. In this program children ages 6-10 will cool down with fun and safe water games. The fee for the program is $4 per child. Funtasia Festival for
Kids slated for July 23
The Ocean County Department of Parks and Recreation will conduct a Funtasia Festival for Kids, July 23 at the Ocean County Park, Route 88, Lakewood. The festival, which run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include magic, music, sports, games, crafts, strolling entertainers, theater and more. Activities will include stage shows and sports demonstrations. Admission is free. In the case in rain, the festival will be relocated to Lakewood High School, Somerset Avenue, Lakewood.
