North Brunswick Township will receive $1,278,000 to rehabilitate a pumping station and interceptors, under recent measures signed into law by Gov. McGreevey. The two measures will allocate funds for a variety of water-quality-protection projects. Measure A-2977, sponsored by Assemblymen Robert M. Gordon (D-Bergen), Jerry Green (D-Union), and Reed Gusciora (D-Mercer), will authorize the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program to distribute low-interest loans for eligible 2004 projects that address water-quality problems, and water and sewage infrastructure needs. Measure A-2978, sponsored by assemblywomen Joan M. Voss (D-Bergen), Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-Mercer), Linda Stender (D-Union), and Assemblyman Gordon M. Johnson (D-Bergen), will set aside additional funds from the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Trust for the various projects.

Prasad Devineni, Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, was recently appointed to the New Jersey Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Commission, following an appointment made to the secretary of state by Gov. McGreevey.

The New Jersey Community Development Corp. (NJCDC), Paterson, is seeking recent college graduates to participate in its AmeriCorps program that runs from September through August. AmeriCorps prepares young men and women for careers and social services through community service work and educational activities.

Students will be expected to work 40 hours-per-week with at-risk children and teenagers, and homeless and impoverished families throughout northern New Jersey. In exchange for a year of service, members receive a living stipend, full health benefits, and an educational award of $4,725 to pay off student loans or go to graduate school.
