Community Alliance to host parenting workshop

The Jackson Community Alliance for the prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse will present a workshop series for parents of children ages 6-10. Topics to be covered include limit setting, choosing battles, motivating children to do chores and homework, sibling rivalry, parental stress and more.

The groups will meet Oct. 13, 20, 27 and Nov. 3 from 6:45 to 9 p.m. at Bella Terra Senior Living Community, 2 Kathleen Drive, Jackson. Call (732) 833-3020 to register.

Borough of Farmingdale honors family physician

The borough of Farmingdale is sponsoring a Recognition Dinner to honor Dr. Edward A. Schauer, a family physician in Farmingdale and surrounding communities for nearly 50 years. He recently served as councilman and mayor of Farmingdale; is a member of the Medical Society of New Jersey and the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians; and served as president of both organizations. He also served on the board and as vice president of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
