Newcomers Club to hold first meeting of the year

The Western Monmouth County Newcomers Club will hold its first general meeting of the year Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. at the Freehold Elks Lodge, 73 E. Main St., Freehold.

The Newcomers Club is a women’s social organization that has been around for 35 years. The club’s geographical area covers the communities of Freehold Borough, Freehold Township, Manalapan, Marlboro, Howell and Farmingdale.

The club gives women — whether new to the area or longtime residents — a way to meet people and get to know the area, and offers both daytime and evening activities ranging from book discussion groups to crafts, mah jong, and Ladies Night Out. Children’s activities are also organized several times a year.

Membership teas for new members are held every few weeks, to introduce people to what the club can offer. Further information can be found on the club’s new Web site, www.monmouthnewcomers.org, or by contacting Cathy Gross, club president, at (732) 591 1642, or membership chairperson Merry Rowland (732) 938 5108.
