David S. Gordon, counsel in the Princeton office of international law firm Reed Smith LLP, has been elected to a three-year term on the board of governors of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL) and appointed to the faculty and advisory board of The Georgetown University Law Center Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute, Washington, D.C.

Gordon is a commercial real estate lawyer whose practice centers on representation of developers, owners and other clients in all aspects of real estate transactions, with an emphasis on land acquisition and disposition, development approvals, financing, leasing, construction contracts and business entity structuring.

He was elected a member of ACREL in 1989, chairs its Membership Development Committee and is an active member of its Insurance Committee. His past service with the organization includes chairing the Leasing Committee.

Gordon previously served as adjunct professor at Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, teaching advanced real estate transactions. He is co-author of “New Jersey Real Estate Forms-Practice,” co-contributing editor of the leasing chapter of “Commercial Real Estate Transactions in New Jersey,” and contributing editor for New Jersey to the “State-by-State Guide to Commercial Real Estate Leases.” He has lectured for a variety of groups including the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the New Jersey chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), the New Jersey Mortgage Bankers Association, the American Banking Institute and the New Jersey Title Insurance Institute.

Gordon, who served as an expert witness on legislative matters for NAIOP and as chairman of NAIOP’s Housing Linkage Fee Committee and Construction Lien Law Committee, was involved on behalf of NAIOP in the drafting of New Jersey’s Construction Lien Law.

A 1967 graduate of Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., Gordon is a 1971 graduate of Columbia University School of Law, New York City. While at Columbia, he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and served on the editorial board of the “Journal of Law and Social Problems.”

He resides in East Brunswick with his wife, Andrea.

The East Brunswick Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Peak Performance Community Dinner program at 6 p.m. on Nov. 6 at Sir John’s Restaurant, 230 Washington Place, North Brunswick.

Guest speaker Jim Campbell, D.C., of Campbell Chiropractic Center, East Brunswick, will offer a presentation titled “Live at Your Peak.”
