Iselin woman’s purse snatched

EDISON — An Iselin woman was the victim of a purse-snatching last week, police said.

Patrolman Robert Dudash said the 28-year-old was approached by a suspect described as a Hispanic male, between 5 feet 4 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing approximately 150 pounds, with a chipped front tooth and a goatee, and wearing a white tank top and black jeans, at about 4 p.m. Nov. 1 in front of the ShopRite store on Oak Tree Road.

Dudash said the suspect asked the woman for a cigarette. When she began searching through her purse for one, the suspect grabbed it and fled on foot toward the rear of the shopping center, he said.

The purse contained over $600 in cash, Dudash said.

The victim was uninjured in the theft.
