Man prescribes legal troubles

EDISON — Police arrested a Marlboro man after he allegedly tried to prescribe himself a narcotic last week.

Michael Dayock, 46, was charged with attempting to obtain a prescription by fraud at 10:15 a.m. on Nov. 4, according to Patrolman Robert Dudash.

Dayock entered the Pathmark store in the Wick Plaza on Route 1 that morning and went to the pharmacy department to attempt to pick up a phoned-in prescription for the drug Lorcet, a painkiller, he said.

When the pharmacist called the doctor to verify the prescription, he was told the prescription was never made, Dudash said.

Dayock was arrested and processed at headquarters. He complained of chest pains as he was being transported to the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, Dudash said.

An ambulance was called to transport Dayock to the JFK Medical Center.

Dayock attempted to open the rear doors, but was restrained, Dudash said.

He was admitted to the hospital for evaluation.

Dayock’s bail was set at $50,000 with no 10-percent option, Dudash said.
