No injuries in apt. complex fire

EDISON — An apartment fire temporarily displaced residents of a Minebrook Road complex early last week, police said.

Patrolman Robert Dudash said the resident of one apartment reported hearing a loud bang coming from the area of the refrigerator in her kitchen just before noon on Nov. 1.

A smoke and fire condition quickly developed, and fire, police and first aid personnel responded.

The building was temporarily evacuated while the fire was “quickly put out,” Dudash said.

The apartment where the fire started sustained significant damage, he said.

Three other apartments sustained minor smoke and water damage. Residents were forced to seek temporary shelter elsewhere until the units could be deemed safe, he said.

Dudash said that the building’s owner, Atlantic Realty Development Corp., North Brunswick, offered to make arrangements for the displaced residents to stay at other units on the property if need be.

The company also provided security to watch over the temporarily vacant apartments, he said.

There were no injuries, Dudash said.
