The Monmouth-Ocean Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) will host a dinner meeting Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Old Time Tavern at Route 37 and Route 166 in Toms River. The topic for this month’s dinner meeting is “What Every Woman Should Know about Social Security.” Dave Delaney, senior public affairs specialist for the New Jersey Area Office of the Social Security Administration, will make a presentation at the meeting and answer questions.

The cost for the event is $35 for members and $40 for nonmembers. Reservations are required and must be made on or before Jan. 21. Call (732) 775-8900 to reserve a spot.

Pamela Ulrich of Brick, executive assistant of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, was unanimously named “Business Person of the Month” by the Board of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce for her outstanding contributions in organizing the “Citizen of the Year Awards Dinner” at the View Restaurant in Lakewood. A record-breaking 210 people attended the event. According to Maureen Stankowitz, the chamber’s executive director. Ulrich was instrumental in raising the membership from 199 when she was hired in 2002 to a record-breaking 473 members in 2004.

As chamber office manager, Ulrich works with businesses and community members to promote Lakewood. She provides relocation packages, literature, maps and information to anyone asking for assistance. She helps Chamber members promote their businesses, assists the community with charitable donations, and directs those in need to community and county services. Ulrich coordinates activities with Future Business Leaders of America and Pupil Assisted Learning Activities, two Lakewood High School groups, as well as all Chamber business functions. She also writes The Business Network, the newsletter of the Chamber that is published every other month.

Ulrich was honored as the October 2003 “Business Person of the Month” for coordinating a Chamber golf outing at Westlake in Jackson for more than 100 participants. This event raised the most money for high school scholarships in the history of the Chamber.

Ulrich graduated from Weehawken High School in 1966 and New York State University School of Business, where she earned an associate’s degree in corporate business, cum laude, in 1968. She holds a teaching certificate in religious education from the Trenton Diocese.

Wegmans Food Markets Inc., with Monmouth county locations in Manalapan and Ocean Township, is on Fortune magazine’s list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” for the eighth consecutive year. This year the supermarket chain is ranked at the very top. Fortune has also named Wegmans to its Hall of Fame, as one of 22 companies who have been on the list since its inception.

To celebrate their No. 1 ranking on Fortune’s list, Wegmans stores will serve cake to customers and employees on Jan. 22, at a time to be determined by each store.

Wegmans Food Markets Inc. is a 67-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Virginia. In February, they will open their second Virginia store in Fairfax, followed later this year by their first Maryland store in Hunt Valley. The family-owned company was founded in 1916 and is based in Rochester, N.Y.
