Murphy Realty Preferred Homes recently established the Murphy Realty Foundation to benefit local charitable organizations. Murphy Realty formed the foundation with a $10,000 donation. During the year, Murphy real estate agents will contribute a portion of their closings to the foundation, with funds to be donated each December to local charities to help during the holiday season. Murphy Realty will also sponsor various fund-raisers throughout the year.

The firm has locations in Red Bank, Rumson, Tinton Falls, Lincroft section of Middletown, Sea Girt and the West End section of Long Branch.

Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association, Red Bank, will welcome Dick Martin, former head of public relations for AT&T, at its next luncheon meeting Feb. 4 at 11:30 a.m. at Palumbo’s Restaurant, Tinton Falls. Martin will discuss his new book “Tough Calls: AT&T and the Hard Lessons Learned from the Telecom Wars.” The cost to attend is $30 for nonmembers and $25 for members prior to Feb. 1, and $35 thereafter. The New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) and Women Presidents’ Educational Organization (WPEO) will sponsor a procurement event and expo Feb. 2 at 8 a.m. at the Pines Manor, Route 27, Edison.

Keynote addresses will be “They Said She Couldn’t Do It!,” by Diane Turton, CEO of Diane Turton Realtors, and “The 11 Commandments of Marketing” by Susan Phillips Bari, president and founder of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council. Other speakers include Virginia Bauer, CEO and secretary of New Jersey Commerce and Economic Growth Commission; Jill Lane, group vice president of Enterprise Rent-A-Car; and James Kocsi, regional director of the U.S. Small Business Administration. The event will feature workshops and expo tables, and business owners will also be able to meet with major corporations to discuss potential buying requirements. Dearborn Farms, 2170 Route 35, Holmdel, will host a birding seminar and bird feeder contest Feb. 5 beginning at noon. Naturalist Holly Hoffman will discuss bird species found in New Jersey and how to attract the birds to feeders. A slide presentation will accompany the lecture, followed by a question-and-answer period until 2 p.m. Attendees may also enter the handmade bird feeder contest, with first prize a $100 Dearborn gift card. Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce will hold a card exchange

Linda’s Diet Delites of Matawan, 286 Route 34, celebrated its one-year anniversary in early January. The store supplies various goods for weight-loss diets as well as items for special medical diets. The store also carries low sodium, gluten-free, casein-free, and other food items. Diet Delites owners are Candace and Andrew Kucy.

Robert J. Moren, Hazlet, was recently promoted to senior vice president and COO at Shopper Charge Accounts (SCA), Mahwah. He will be responsible for directing the company’s credit, customer service and collections areas, and will be responsible for special projects and compliance. He most recently served as senior vice president of credit, customer service and collections with the firm. He joined SCA in 1997 as vice president of collections, and prior to that, was director of asset management at Sears, Roebuck and Co., Trevose, Pa. Moren received his bachelor of science degree from St. Peter’s College, Jersey City.

Commerce Bank, Bethany Road and Ashleigh Drive, Hazlet, recently made a donation to the Hazlet Recreation Commission to show the bank’s involvement in the local community. The donation was made at the bank’s grand opening in January. Commerce Bank’s corporate giving program makes approximately 5,000 contributions a year to nonprofits.

Joseph Rendina, Keyport, and Theresa C. Mayer, Hazlet, recently began training at the Monmouth

County Police Academy, Freehold, for the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office. Rendina, 33, received his associate’s degree in criminal justice from Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, and was previously employed in sales with a Philadelphia-based company. He and his wife are parents of one daughter.

Mayer, 30, received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, Pomona, and is also a graduate of the Police Academy’s Special Officers Class II program. She was employed as a dispatcher at the Red Bank Police Department, and was a Class I Special Officer with the Belmar Police Department. She and her husband are parents of one son.

The two new sheriff’s officers will receive 20 weeks of training as members of the recruit class at the academy.

The Middletown office of Weichert, Realtors announced that sales associates Louis Mangiavillano, Terrence Fitzpatrick, Jo Anne Passione and Graeme Atkinson were recognized for industry successes during the month of December.

Mangiavillano led the office in listings, while Fitzpatrick led the office in sales.

Passione led the office in marketed listings.

Atkinson led the office in revenue units and dollar volume.
