Ken Shirk Child Care Center, located at 445 Old Post Road in Edison, has earned accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), an organization based in Washington, D.C., that is made up of early-childhood professionals. The center, which joins the more than 8,000 early-childhood programs accredited by the NAEYC, is among the dozen Metuchen-Edison-Woodbridge YMCA early-learning programs in Middlesex County.

The Middlesex-Somerset Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) will hold a dinner meeting from 6-8:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 at O’Connor’s Beef ’N Chowder House, Amwell Road, Somerset section of Franklin. Topic will be “Secrets to Smarter Networking: How To Increase Profitability Through Networking.” Guest speaker will be business owner and author Liz Lynch, president of Consult Ad Hoc Inc., a profit-advisory firm. Lynch also is the author of “102 Secrets to Smarter Networking.”

Iris Dillon, a business owner with 20 years’ experience in promotion and marketing in the music industry, will also offer a presentation. Admission ranges from $35-$55 and includes dinner. Reservation deadline is Jan. 28. For more
