Addie M. Shifflet Fletcher

Mrs. Fletcher, 82, of Hazlet, died March 12 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in West Virginia, she resided in Trenton prior to moving to Hazlet 12 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She is survived by five daughters, Mabel Fletcher and Evelyn Fletcher of Hazlet, Patricia Beverly of Union Beach, Josephine Fletcher of North Carolina, and Helen Szabo of Pennsylvania; four sons, George Fletcher of Hazlet, Thomas Fletcher of Virginia, and George Davis and William Davis of West Virginia; a sister, Bertha Smith of Maryland; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be March 16 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Dominic J. Daniele Sr.

Mr. Daniele, of Hazlet, died March 11. Born in Jersey City, he resided there prior to moving to Hazlet 36 years ago. He was a member of the New Jersey State Police for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; four children, Dominic Sr., Debra, Robert and Lisa; a son-in-law, David Tryon; a daughter-in-law, Jamie; and three grandchildren. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Robert John Cremeans

Mr. Cremeans, 84, of Eatontown, died March 13 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Philadelphia, he resided in Little Silver for 35 years, prior to moving to Eatontown a few months ago. He was the owner and operator of The Mermaid Diner, Atlantic Highlands, for 30 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, and received a Purple Heart. He was predeceased by a son, John Cremeans; and two grandchildren, Amber and Joseph. He is survived by his wife of 60 yeas, Thelma Bartell Cremeans of Red Bank; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and James McNamara of Freehold; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Patty Cremeans of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Gina Cremeans of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A memorial Mass will be March 16 at 10:230 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Mary A. McCourt

Mrs. McCourt, 66, of Holmdel, died March 4 at home. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she resided in Hazlet before moving to Holmdel two years ago. Mrs. McCourt is survived by her husband of 41 years, Brendan McCourt; three daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jeffrey Friedel of Hazlet, Jean and Brian DePalma of Holmdel, and Kelly and Paul Pruckowski of Hazlet; a son, Mark McCourt of Hazlet; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Kasy Kane of Sarasota, Fla.; and nine grandchildren. Patricia E. Reeves

Mrs. Reeves, 71, of Hazlet, died March 10 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Elizabeth, she resided in Keansburg prior to moving to Hazlet two years ago. She was a certified nurse’s aide in the Monmouth County area for several years. She was a lifetime member of Keansburg Pentecostal Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles O. Reeves in 2003. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Manny Reeves of Union Beach, and Deborah and Robert Palmer, and Theresa and Sal Racioppi, all of Hazlet; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Charles “Buddy” and Rhonda Reeves, and Stephen and Jill Reeves, all of Hazlet, Michael Reeves of Middletown, and James and Jill Reeves of the Belford section of Middletown; 15 grandchildren ; and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Keansburg Pentecostal Church. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Viola F. Blazejewski

Mrs. Blazejewski, 91, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, died March 11 at home. Born in Elizabeth, she resided there prior to moving to New Monmouth in 1995. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Blazejewski in 1998; three brothers, William Kelly, John Kelly and Edward Kelly; and a sister, Mary Weber. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Glen and Donna Blaze, and Edward F. and Jackie Blazejewski, all of Middletown; a brother, Thomas Kelly of Elizabeth; and two grandsons. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

JeanEllen Frendock Hansen

Mrs. Hansen, 49, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, died March 11 at home. Born in Newark, she was a lifelong resident of Middletown. She was a teacher’s aide for Middletown Township Board of Education at New Monmouth School. She was predeceased by a sister, Linda Manning in 2000. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Peter Hansen; two daughters, Kristen E. Hansen and Allyssa Grace Hansen, both New Monmouth; a sister, Susan Hornig of Bricktown; and her parents, Grace and Charles Frendock of Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Angelo DelValle

Mr. DelValle, 68, of Aberdeen, died March 12 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in New York City, he resided in Aberdeen the past 38 years. He was a trader’s assistant on the New York Stock Exchange for 40 years, retiring in 2001. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle Mejias DelValle in 2002. He is survived by a son, Andrew M. DelValle of Windham, N.Y.; a daughter, Jacqueline M. Penicaro of Beachwood; and one grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated March 16 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, South Amboy. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Walter J. Jankowski

Mr. Jankowski, 88, of Aberdeen, died March 12 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Matawan, he was a lifelong resident of Aberdeen. He was the owner and operator of Walt’s Tavern, Matawan, retiring in 1985. He served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Keyport, and Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Jankowski; and a sister, Emma Jankowski. He is survived by his wife, Connie Talmadge Jankowski of Aberdeen; a daughter, Cassandra Keith of Brattleboro, Vt.; a son, Mark Jankowski of Aberdeen; his first wife, Wanda Jankowski of Aberdeen; two sister, Helen Jankowski of Aberdeen, and Josephine Montani of Perth Amboy; and three grandsons. Eileen Sapia

Mrs. Sapia, 69, of the Leonardo section of Middletown, died March 12 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she resided in Atlantic Highlands prior to moving to Leonardo 12 years ago. She was a bookkeeper at Planned Parenthood, Shrewsbury, for 25 years. She was predeceased by her husband, John Sapia. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Patricia Sapia of Leonardo, and Eugenia and Lawrence Gould of Atlantic Highlands; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John and Maureen Sapia of the Locust section of Middletown, and Joseph Sapia of Highlands; two brothers, Raymond Carroll of Brigantine, and Robert F. Hollister “Iggy” Cameron Iglay Sr.

Mr. Iglay, 75, of the Leonardo section of Middletown, died March 2 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Leonardo, he resided there the past 37 years. He was a member of Dockbuilders Local Union No. 1456, New York City, for 54 years. He served with the U.S. Marines. He was predeceased by a son, Hollister Iglay Jr. in 1964; and a daughter, Holli-Anne Bird in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lillian Gradis Iglay; a son, Vincent Iglay of Middletown; two daughters and one son-in-law, Candace Donohue of Plano, Texas, and Valorie and John Johnson of California; a sister, Dolores Reilly of Eatontown; a brother, Russel Iglay of Highlands; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Helen Elizabeth De Lisle Marzillier

Mrs. Marzillier, 87, of Matawan, died March 2 at home. Born in Newark, she resided in the Colonia section of Woodbridge and in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Rahway before moving to Matawan. Mrs. Marzillier was a librarian at Merck and Co., Woodbridge, where she was employed several years before retiring. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Marzillier. She is survived by two brothers, Harold W. De Lisle of Colorado and Robert J. De Lisle of Red Bank; two sisters, Hazel De Lisle Weston of Red Bank and Carol De Lisle Meyers of East Brunswick; two nieces; and one nephew. Burial was at Rahway Cemetery, The Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles D. Walters

Mr. Walters, 46, of Keyport, died March 4 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Pennsylvania, he resided there before moving to Keyport 28 years ago. He was a welder at K&A Excavating, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick. Mr. Walters served with the U.S. Navy during peacetime. He was predeceased by his mother, Audrey Walters, in 1995. Mr. Walters is survived by his father, Charles Walters of Pennsylvania; his wife of 21 years, Lorene Bush Walters of Keyport; his mother-in-law, Joyce Bengyel of Matawan; a son, Greg D. Walters of Keyport; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert and Pamela Walters, and Joseph Walters, all of Pennsylvania; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Tamra and Joseph Hart, and Pamela Walters, all of Pennsylvania; and several nieces and nephews. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.

Mary R. Alexander

Mrs. Alexander, 82, of Lawrenceville, died March 5 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Paterson, she has been a resident of Middletown for more than 50 years. Mrs. Alexander was an executive secretary for the Department of the Army, Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, retiring 30 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Daughters. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Alexander, in 1994. Mrs. Alexander is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joseph R. and Linda Alexander of Lawrenceville; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Patrick Kirwan of Huntington, N.Y.; a sister, Irene Fiess of Woodbridge, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Ilene Raymond of Hialeah, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Elaine Raymond of Eatontown; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Church, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.

Josephine C. Allocco Genovese

Mrs. Genovese, 89, of Holmdel, died March 8 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Madison, she was a lifelong resident of Holmdel. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Genovese in 1983; two sons, Peter E. Genovese Jr. in 2002, and Charles Genovese in 1997; and a grandson, Leo Yori Jr. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ann and Leo Yori of Holmdel, and Theresa and Adam Drapczuk of Brick; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Rose Genovese of Holmdel; two daughters-in-law, Marge Genovese and Ivy Genovese; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Dorothy Eleanor Engebretson

Mrs. Engebretson, 75, of Colts Neck, died March 6 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. She courageously battled lymphoma for 13 years. Born in Newark, she had resided in Matawan before moving to Colts Neck 30 years ago. Prior to retiring after 30 years of service, she was employed by the Old Bridge Township Board of Education as the first female principal. She was a member of Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tinton Falls; Alpha Delta Kappa, the international honorary sorority for women educators; the Madison Township Historical Society; the Middlesex County Administrative Association; the Sons of Norway in Marlboro; and the Colts Neck Senior Citizens. Mrs. Engebretson was predeceased by her parents, Henry F. and Eleanor Duschock Delbasco. Surviving are her husband of 43 years, David Engebretson; a daughter, Donna Engebretson Wooster of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister, Carol Kosobucki of Matawan; two grandchildren, Rachel and Sarah Wooster; a niece, Lynne Kosobucki of Keyport; and a nephew, John Kosobucki of England. A funeral service was held at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, followed by interment at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent section of Manalapan. Edwin L. Helwig

Mr. Helwig, 90, of Middletown, died March 6 at Newport News, Va. Born in Newark, he resided in the Middletown area 84 years. He was a maintenance worker for Middletown Township for several years, retiring in 1985. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Fort Monmouth Memorial Unit No. 29. He was predeceased by his sister, Marion Foulks. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna Marie Helwig; two sons and one daughter-in-law George and Nadine Helwig of Tilton, N.H., and Robert Helwig of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, June and Joel Yurkiw of Newport News, Va.; a brother, George Helwig of Keansburg; and five grandchildren. Joseph H. Pittius

Mr. Pittius, 81, of Hazlet, died March 7 at Riverivew Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, he resided there prior to moving to Hazlet 53 years ago. He was an electrician at Local 400, Wall Township, for 35 years, retiring in 1985. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and received four Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was predeceased by three brothers, Herbert, William and John Pittius; and a sister, Elizabeth Visconi. He is survived by his wife, Caroline DiGennaro Pittius of Hazlet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Patrick O’Brien of Keyport, and Lillian Carralero and John Carr of Manalapan; three sisters, Lillian Poling, Helen Dolan and Emma Jane Nadler; two brothers, Robert Pittius and August Pittius; and four grandchildren. George Paul Arrants

Mr. Arrants, 67, of Middletown, died March 8 at home. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Florida and Matawan prior to moving to Middletown four years ago. He was a contractor, and was also employed at the American Red Cross, Tinton Falls. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Keyport. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Lorraine Rayson Arrants of Middletown; two sons, George Arrants of Texas, and Kenneth Arrants of Monroe; a daughter, Carolyn Fahy of Helmetta; a stepdaughter, Marilyn Ribeiro of Middletown; a sister, Georgiana McCluer of Arizona; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
