WEST WINDSOR — With glowing praise for its selection, the Township Council on Monday approved Hamilton Township Municipal Court Judge Mary S. Brennan’s appointment as West Windsor’s new municipal judge through June 30, 2006.
"We welcome Ms. Brennan to our bench, and we anticipate she will continue the tradition of good judges in West Windsor," said Councilwoman Jacqueline Alberts, a member of the screening committee that reviewed candidates. "Both on paper and in person, she was impressive."
Judge Brennan is expected to be sworn in sometime this month, officials said.
Her annual salary will be $35,000.
Mayor Shing-Fu Hsueh selected Judge Brennan from two finalists chosen by a specially appointed screening committee.
The three other members of the screening committee were Councilman Charles Morgan, Administrator Chris Marion and Township Attorney Michael J. Herbert.
An interim judge, Lester Maisto, a municipal judge in Trenton and Willingboro, filled the position temporarily after David Saltman, the township’s former municipal judge, stepped down from the bench in November and retired to Florida, officials said.
