William Simon
William Simon, 58, died Friday at home.
Born in Trenton, he had resided in Lawrence all of his life.
Mr. Simon was the former owner of Bill Simon Trucking and was currently an estimator for Barrett Paving Co. in Trenton.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and served with a Mobile Construction Battalion (Seabees) in Vietnam.
Son of the late William and Ella Callery Simon, he is survived by his wife, Sandi Bernabe Simon; three daughters, Susan Simon-Gregory and her husband William, Elizabeth Simon and Kristen Simon; and two grandchildren, Matthew and Brandon Gregory. Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Angelo and Marie Bernabe.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from Poulson & Van Hise Funeral Directors, Lawrence.
Burial was in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.

Janina Stahl
NEWTOWN, Pa. Janina "Jana" Stahl died March 21. She was 82.
Born in Vienna, Austria, she grew up in Lwow, Poland, now Lviv, Ukraine, and was a former Lawrence resident.
She worked at Educational Testing Service in Lawrence and was an active area volunteer.
While Poland was under siege in World War II, she married Charles Stahl, and together they fled to Budapest. Their support of the Polish resistance caused them to be incarcerated and separated during the war. They were reunited after the war, but with Poland under communist rule, they did not return to their homeland. They lived briefly in Vienna, where they had their first daughter, and then in Geneva, where their second daughter was born.
A fervent belief in the democratic system was the catalyst that made them leave a comfortable life in Geneva to immigrate to the United States in 1953, bringing along with them a cook, a governess and a secretary. They lived in Westchester County, N.Y., followed by a year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and then Princeton in 1958, where they raised their family and remained until the 1980s.
After volunteering with the American Red Cross and at the New Jersey Neuropsychiatric Institute in Montgomery, she worked at Educational Testing Service for more than 20 years until her retirement, but continued volunteer service at the June Fete of the University Medical Center at Princeton.
She then moved to Lawrence and most recently to Pennswood Village in Newtown, Pa.
She was an avid bridge player and reader, enjoyed a good joke, convertible cars, fine restaurants and the theater. During her life, she was fluent in as many as seven languages.
Wife of the late Charles Stahl, who died in 1985, she is survived by her sister, Halina Eskenazi of Annemasse, France; daughters and sons-in-law Sandra and Ken Oliver and Jeanie Stahl and John Jacobsen; and sister-in law Lucynka Smolinska and husband Janusz Smolinski.
There will be no memorial service, as she requested.

Phyllis E. Gibilisco
PENNINGTON Phyllis Edith Ratkowski Gibilisco died Friday. She was 89.
Born in Reynoldsville, Pa., she spent most of her life in Lawrence and the past 25 years residing with her daughter in Pennington.
Ms. Gibilisco was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother. Active in the Faith Assembly of God Church in Ewing, which was founded by her late husband, Ms. Gibilisco enjoyed singing and playing the organ in church.
She was retired from Stangl Pottery where she worked for 51 years longer than any other employee in the company’s history.
Daughter of the late Antoni Ratkowski and Joana Grzywinski Ratkowski, wife of the late Rev. Paul Gibilisco to whom she was married to 49 years, and sister of the late William, Kenneth, Frank, Ted and Felix Ratkowski, she is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Maryann Gibilisco of Lawrence, and Anthony and Celeste Gibilisco of Hamilton; and daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Jerry Murphy of Pennington; her grandchildren, Anthony Gibilisco, Carla and Keith Hill, Lisa and Noel Rosa, Chrystal Murphy, Celeste Murphy, and Gary and Donna Gibilisco; great-grandchildren, Keith Hill Jr., Scott Hill and Gavin Rosa; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Faith Assembly of God Church.
Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery.
