Barry Minkin, of Jackson, has been named to the board of directors of Spencer Savings Bank in Elmwood Park. Minkin has more thank 20 years of diversified corporate benefits and human resource experience. A graduate of the City University of New York, he has authored a chapter on insurance for Warren Gorham and Lamont’s Business Controllers handbook.

Plant Lady Florist & Ro-Saul Garden Florist, of Lakewood, took first place in the “Best in County” Floral Centerpiece Competition held April 19 during the Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Council of Ocean’s annual awards dinner at the Crystal Point Yacht Club in Point Pleasant. The theme of the contest was “It’s All About Color.” The award-winning entry was designed by Natasha Marinelli and Andria Bold.

Second place went to O’Brien’s of Point Pleasant Florist & Nursery. Robin Pine-Cerach designed the arrangement.

Third place was awarded to Alan’s & Mininsohn’s Fabulous Florals, in Lake-wood, and designed by Denise Starling.

The Floral Centerpiece Competition is held each year in conjunction with ADACO’s Awards Dinner. This year the event honored Sam A. Christopher and John J. Franklin.

Ocean County College Center for Business Education and training will host a “Business after Hours” networ-king event, May 17 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Business Education and Training, 150 Brick Blvd., Brick. The event is sponsored by Sovereign Bank. The public is invited to attend the evening which will include refreshments, conversation, and information about furthering businesses. Investors Savings Bank, Jackson, announced the opening of its newest branch at 130 North County Line Road in Jackson. The Jackson branch, which opened March 14, celebrated its grand opening from April 16-30 with many special guests including Jackson Mayor Michael Broderick; Mike Kaczynski, who is on the board of directors of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce; and Nancy Graves, senior vice president of Investors Savings Bank, who all joined together to cut the ribbon, officially opening the branch.

The new building is approximately 9,900 square feet and features a full service branch, drive-up banking, and an ATM.

The Eye Center at Jackson, 260 County Line Road, Jackson, will host its second annual “Biker/Harley Davidson Days,” May 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a rain date of May 21. The Harley frame representative will have the entire line of Harley frames, safety glasses and sunglasses on hand for the event. Other motorcycle glasses on display will include Wiley X and Panoptix.
