Battle of Bands at Howell library

HOWELL – The first Teen Battle of the Bands presented by Howell Library, 318 Old Tavern Road, will kick off the young adult summer reading program June 30 from 1-4 p.m. (rain date July 7) at the library.

The event provides the opportunity for teens to gather with friends to celebrate the end of the school year and the beginning of a summer of reading. The youths are invited to hang out at the library and listen to music performed by local teens.

Performing bands will be Affliction, CO2, Enclosed Fears, No Fold and Suns of the Beach. There will be room for attendees to dance and cast votes for their favorite band. Prizes will be awarded to the top bands of the day. The event is free and open to all teens and teens-at-heart. Spectators are welcome to bring their own chairs and enjoy the music.

Young adults are invited to join the teen summer reading club – YNK: You Never Know – and read at their own pace over the summer.

Weekly programs and activities are scheduled throughout the summer for teens at the Howell library, including “C.S.I: Reality Program,” “Teens After Hours @ the Library,” “Mosaic Workshop,” “Clue,” “Staying Alive: Murder Mystery Game,” “The Fourth Annual Monopoly Tournament” and the “Back-to-School High School Reading Book Discussion.”
