Kudos on your recent editorial “Committee Caught Up in a Political Pickle” (News Transcript, Aug. 15). I have lived here for 36- plus years, and I think it’s about time for this idiocy to stop.
Surely, there must have been a time when good local government transcended the concept of acquiring and retaining political power at any price.
If your editorial wasn’t so accurate, it would be laughable. Instead, chalk up yet another example of the pettiness, political back-biting and mismanagement of local politics.
If the members of our Township Committee exerted half the energy they expend trying to ambush each other to the detriment of doing the township’s legitimate business, we might not be the new example of the latest governmental embarrassment in Monmouth County.
I link Stuart Moskovitz among the players – he certainly has nothing to brag about based on his past tenure as a township committeeman and then as the township counsel.
Nevertheless, if I could be assured that the repayment of the $420.50 the committee is seeking from Mr. Moskovitz and/or his firm would refocus the committee on the township’s business for the benefit of its citizens, at least until the election process has officially begun, I would pay the money myself!
