MacCollum, Richards vault to victory

   The Paramount USAG Level 8 and 9 optional teams continued their competition season at the Winter Bowl Invitational at Atlantic Coast Gymnastics in Sewell on Jan. 27.
   The Hillsborough Level 8 teammates had another fantastic meet winning the first place team award with a score of 110.125. Competing from Hillsborough were Amanda Curry, Brittany Janssen, Melissa MacCollum and Brittany Zichert.
   In the Junior A division, Zichert competed in her first Level 8 competition taking home third place medals for both bars (8.45) and floor (9.075). Zichert finished with an impressive third place win in the all-around with a score of 34.075.
   In the Junior B division, MacCollum took first place on vault (9.25) and second place on bars (8.75). MacCollum finished first place in the all-around with a 36.15.
   In the Senior A division, Janssen took second place on vault (8.5) and beam (8.625) and once again captured the first place title on floor with a 9.175. She finished third place all-around with a score of 34.75.
   In the Senior B division, Curry took home medals in all events including first place for an outstanding floor routine (9.275). Curry took second place on both vault (8.3) and bars (8.7) and third place on beam (9.05). She took the second place trophy in the all-around (35.325).
   The Level 9 team scored 104.6 for a second place finish. Representing Hillsborough were residents Mary-Kate Lynch, Brittany Marcsisin and Casey Richards.
   Lynch competed in beam and floor in the Senior B age division. Her outstanding performance on beam earned her a score of 8.85 and the first place award. She also placed sixth on floor.
   Marcsisin competed in the Junior B age division and placed fourth on floor, fifth on bars and second place on floor with a score of 8.8.
   Richards competed in the Junior A age division. She placed first on vault with a score of 8.65 and second on floor (8.9). Her total all-around score of 34.2 was a personal best and earned her a third place finish in her age group.
   Paramount Gymnastics was named “2006 Mid-Atlantic Region Club of the Year” by USA Gymnastics for the Optional Program (Levels 7-10).

Twilight Knight Invite
The Level 7 Optional gymnastic team from Paramount in Hillsborough competed at the Twilight Knight Invite at Rutgers on Jan. 5 and took home the first place team award.
   Hillsborough resident Nicole Orzel’s strong performance in all events took home seventh place in the all around with a score of 37.00, her best this season. Orzel received sixth place on vault with a 9.5, 13th on bars with a 9.075, 10th on beam with a 9.4 and 11th on floor with a 9.025.
   Also competing in the 10-year old division were Natalie Onderko and Sarah Pallay. Onderko placed fifth on bars with a 9.225, sixth on beam with a 9.475 and 13th in the all-around with a 36.35. Pallay took home 12th on vault with a 9.3 and 16th in the all around with a 35.9.
   Alexis Locasto competed in the 11-year old division taking home seventh on vault with a 9.4, ninth on bars with a 9.1, ninth on beam with an 8.925 and sixth on floor with a 9.375. She received ninth in the all around with a 36.8.
   Paramount Gymnastics was named “2006 Mid-Atlantic Region Club of the Year”by USA Gymnastics for the Optional Program (Levels 7-10).
