By Katie Wagner, Staff Writer
MONTGOMERY — Montgomery Township School District board members and administrators are offering members of the community an opportunity to contribute to the district’s strategic planning process and learn what is required for success in various industries’ future from a panel of business leaders Saturday.
The event, “Conversation with the Community” is intended to focus on how to educate young people for success in the 21st century.
The program will open with comments from the panel of business leaders including, Denise Morrison, senior vice president and president of North America Campbell’s Soup; Ken Damato, chief operating officer of Crimson Investment, The Tyden Group; Jeffrey O’Hara, partner of the Connell Foley law firm; and Dr. Karen Lin, associate professor of family medicine, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. The business leaders, who all live in Montgomery, will also take questions from the public.
Smaller group discussions moderated by trained facilitators will follow. These discussions will focus on:
   • What is the world expecting of our students for success in a global society?
   • How does this inform what we do in the Montgomery Township School District?
   • What issues and questions arise as we consider these questions and ideas?
Arthur Shostak, emeritus professor of sociology at Drexel University, will summarize the morning’s activities and discussions.
Board of Education President David Pettit will conclude the event by explaining how the information gathered will be synthesized into themes and shared with the district’s strategic planning team.
Conversation with the Community will run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Montgomery Lower School. Advance registration is recommended through the school district Web site, www.mtsd.k12.nj.us, as space is limited.
