Audubon Society field trip at Allaire May 3

Monmouth County Audubon Society will host its annual field trip to Allaire State Park, Wall Township, May 3 from 8:15 a.m.-noon beginning in the park’s parking lot (rain or shine).

Attendees may see migrants such as the scarlet tanager, rose-breasted grosbeak, flycatchers and almost 15 species of warblers.Walkers should bring binoculars and field guides and should dress appropriately for the weather. Pets are not permitted.

The Society’s next meeting will beMay 14 at 8 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, White Street, Red Bank. Teacher and naturalist George Nixon will discuss dragonflies and damselflies. The program is divided into two parts with the first part covering the life cycle of dragonflies and damselflies and identification, and the second a primer of “odes” that may or may not be encountered in the field.
