Craig and Kerrie Blum, John and Paige Frothingham, Ron Rubinstein, Michael Shernicoff and Bill Weisman will ride with Rabbi Brooks R. Susman of Congregation Kol Am, Freehold, in the 31st annual New York 5-Borough Bicycle Tour on May 4. The ride is both a fundraising opportunity for the Murray Sherman Memorial Education Fund and an expression of solidarity in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel.
The Murray Sherman Memorial Education Fund, created to honor the memory of Murray Sherman, a founding member of the Congregation Kol Am religious school faculty, with his wife, Bruche, is dedicated to the enhancement of the religious school curriculum by providing students with field trips, guest speakers and extraordinary resource materials.
Last year, the ride raised more than $1,200, and a portion of the proceeds will be providing schoolchildren and their parents with a field trip to Ellis Island in June.
