‘Singing With the Poets’ at Emanu-El June 12

MakhelatHaMercaz Jewish Choir of Central New Jersey will present its spring concert “SingingWith the Poets: TheMuse &Music of Israel” at Temple Emanu-El, 100 James St., Edison, on June 12 at 7 p.m. The choral program will include pieces by well-known Israeli, Yiddish andAmerican composers/lyricists such asNaomi Shemer,Arik Einstein,Achinoam Nini, ZalmanMlotek, Sol Zim and David Burger.

This year,Middlesex County’sHarry Bernstein, amember of Temple Emanu-El, co-chair of the Jewish Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council, and a retired substance abuse/crisis counselor, will be honored for his contributions to the central New Jersey Jewish community. Individual ticketsmay be purchased for $15 in advance, $20 at the door ($7 in advance, $10 at the door for seniors and students). Patrons may reserve two seats for a contribution of $100.Areception for all attendees is planned following the concert.
