The Woman’s Club of Little Silver recently sent more than $2,000 worth of international telephone cards for use by wounded troops in Iraq, as its project for 2008. The club sold 50/50 raffle tickets to purchase the cards that were sent to Landstuhl Medical Center, Germany, and a Joint Task Force of Special Forces in Iraq. Due to the success of the effort, the club is going to repeat it and sell 50/50 tickets priced at $2 per ticket or $10 for a book of five. A drawing for the raffle will be held on or about May 7. The Garden Club of Fair Haven has been preparing for its first garden tour and plant sale slated for May 30 (rain date May 31). The event will feature five gardens in Fair Haven and Rumson, and a tour of Fair Haven’s bird sanctuary. Perennials from club members will be for sale. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event. The club’s next meeting will be held at noon March 4 at the youth center, and designer Betty Markendorf will present “Elfin Enchantment” and demonstrate miniature and small-design techniques.
