The Brick Chamber of Commerce has awarded 10 scholarships, for a total of $13,500, for continuing education in a variety of disciplines.

An award for a student pursuing a career in medicine or dentistry was donated by Princeton Dental and was awarded to Melanie Caruso; Arlene Esquilin received a scholarship donated by Briarmill Pharmacy for pursuing a career in the medical field; Daniel Governale was the recipient of the award for a student studying architecture, engineering or related fields that was donated by Barlo & Associates, Architects/ Abatare Builders; Alexandra Miller was the recipient of the William Knapp MemorialMusic Scholarship, made possible by The Village Airs of the Original Leisure Village West. The family of Jane Glen made possible the Jane Glen Memorial Scholarship that was presented to Sara Miller, and the Samaris Tassinaro Memorial Scholarship donated by Joseph and Jackie DiNardo was awarded to Olivia Marcinka. In addition to these directed scholarships, awards were also given to Abigail Petterchak, Anthonia Ezenweani, Tiffany Gulzeth and Nicole Lloyd.

Recipients were recognized at a cocktail party in May that was held in the township’s municipal building. To date, the foundation was awarded over $80,000 in scholarships to area students.

The Brick Township Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours networking opportunity 5-7 p.m. July 27 at Brandywine Assisted Living at Reflections, 1594 Route 88, Brick. A variety of hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be available, including pina coladas and margaritas. There will be a shared resource table for chamber members’ promotional materials, and all guests will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Attendees will also be given the opportunity to present an infomercial about their business. The cost to attend is $10 per member, or two members for $15, and $20 for nonmembers. SCORE, Counselors to America’s Small Business, is offering a free and confidential in-depth business analysis for small business owners who want to sustain or grow their business during the current economic times.
