The Chelsea at Tinton Falls donated a total of $1,800 to local volunteer emergency responders Northside Engine Company No. 4 and Tinton Falls EMS North, following the Chelsea’s annual golf outing. The event benefits volunteer emergency responders in all the New Jersey communities in which Chelsea has residences.

The Atlantic Brass Band will help celebrate Ranney School’s 50th anniversary 8-10 p.m. Oct. 30 at the school’s Panther Hall, Hope Road, Tinton Falls. The program will pair Ranney students from grades four-12 and professional musicians, and is the first time the band will perform in Monmouth County. Ranney students will join the band in the program’s finale, “Classics in Brass,” featuring music by Beethoven and Bach, “1812 Overture,” and music from the film, “2001: A Space Odyssey.” The Atlantic Brass Band is in its 25th year and performs solo performances, small ensemble works, and a selection from opera, jazz, ragtime, Broadway and movie soundtracks. The Rumson Women’s Club will sponsor a pasta dinner 5:30-8 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Rumson Presbyterian Church, East River Road. Attendees bringing a new classic children’s book suitable for primary or middle school readers will receive $2 off their meal. Proceeds will benefit Red Bank school libraries, Christmas stockings for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, Rumson Fair Haven scholarship fund, and other local charities. Admission is $10 for seniors and children younger than age 12, and $12 for all others. Takeout meals are $14, quarts of sauce are $7, and one dozen meatballs are $10. Duxiana, 37 Broad St., Red Bank, will host an open house “pajama party” at 11 a.m. Nov. 21 to collect pajamas and other items for a new orphanage for girls to be built in Haiti. Miss New Jersey 2009, Ashley Shaffer, is working with Duxiana on the effort, and will be on hand to accept items for the girls school. Needed are summer pajamas, lightweight summer clothes, arts and crafts, bathing suits, new or gently used books in English or French, card and board games, cash and gift cards. Embroiderers’ Guild of America Monmouth Chapter’s evening group will meet 7-9 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Colts Neck Library, 1 Winthrop Drive. Members will work on a merchandising bee in preparation for the April exhibit.
