Mr. DeVries, 77, of Jackson and formerly of Farmingdale, died Oct. 12, 2009, at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He retired as a field engineer with Electronics Associates Inc., West Long Branch. Mr. DeVries, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Raught; and a sister, Jean Lutke. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Norma J. De- Vries; three sons, Robert DeVries Jr. of Point Pleasant Borough, Allen DeVries and his wife, Justine, of Tuckerton, and Martin DeVries and his wife, Linda, of North Hanover; a brother, Alfred DeVries of Kalamazoo, Mich.; four sisters, Dorothy DeYoung of Crown Point, Ind., Mildred Hoogeveen of Carlsbad, N.M., Donna Wands of Dyer, Ind., and Bonnie Boomsma of Wheatfield, Ind.; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township. Interment was private.
