WEST WINDSOR, N.J. — Mercer County Community College’s African American Student Organization invites the community to a celebration of the life and work of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Monday, January 18, 2010. The event will be held on the college’s James Kerney Campus, 102 North Broad Street, Trenton, from 1 to 4 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.
A variety of planned entertainment will include jazz musician Tommy Grice performing a history of jazz as it relates to the development of black culture. MCCC Professor Alvin Haywood, a talented musician, will perform.
Reverend Michele Bazin of New Horizon Baptist Church will deliver a talk entitled "We are not there yet." A mime and praise dance team will perform, and a story teller will entertain children.
