LMS teacher awarded NASA fellowship

Mariano Buttitta, a teacher at Linwood Middle School, has been awarded a fellowship with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The Endeavor Science Teaching Certificate Project allows teachers an opportunity to bring back to the classroom a greater understanding of NASA discoveries to inspire the next generation of explorers, scientists, engineers and astronauts. Educators learn how to deliver cutting-edge science into the classroom. Project fellows will earn graduate credit and a certificate of completion in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) from Teachers College, Columbia University. The project is administered by the U.S. Satellite Laboratory Inc. of Rye, N.Y., and is funded through the NASA Endeavor Teacher Fellowship Trust Fund in tribute to the dedicated crew of the space shuttle Challenger.
